Many people confess to have a terrible memory and it is something that befalls many of us as we start to get older. At first it is small things which we hardly notice such as taking out your iphone sim only to put it down and forget where you have put it; or getting to the supermarket and leaving half of what you really needed on the shelves.
There are techniques, though, which can help us to memorise things and with a little patience and practice they do actually work.
One trick I have to remember lists of things is to try and visualise them in my mind and to link them to each other. So if I have eggs, chicken and sweet corn on my shopping list I will have the images in my mind and I will picture the chicken with its egg and eating corn from the ground.
It works well in some cases but not so well where you have to remember many unrelated things as they do not spring so easily to the mind.
Another simple way to remember things is to write them down and as obvious as this sounds, making lists does work. The only problem is that you start to rely on them to a point where your mind forgets even more easily than it did before.
